TEEN BOAT BUILDING SCHOOL
June 21-26, 2010, 9AM-4PM
Teens will learn how to make their own canoe with the help of instructors from the Chesapeake Wooden Boat Builders School. Advance registration and orientation is required. Call for application.

July 5-9, 2010 (entering grades 4-5) 9AM-4PM
The past comes to life in your own backyard! Discover how archaeology can help us find out what happened in the past. Take part in different activities related to archaeology, like nature hikes and surveys, hands-on crafts and activities, traditional games and Native cultures. Find out how you can help protect the past. For students who have not previously completed the Archaeology by the Bay Summer Camp. Please pack a lunch for camp. Explore the rich cultural and natural resources of the Bay right along your own backyard! Learn about the history and archaeology of the area and the Native plants and animals. Hands-on activities will focus on history, archaeology, and ecology. Open to students who have become Junior Archaeologists at previous camp sessions or to students who have explored similar topics at the middle school level. Please pack a lunch for camp. Join our e-mail list and receive a personal invitation to the opening of our NEW exhibit, BEYOND JAMESTOWN: LIFE 400 YEARS AGO that portrays the lives of the Native Americans in the Upper Bay Region and contact with European Settlers. Occupying our newly renovated gallery space, it features unique artifacts from the region, a replica of Captain John Smith's exploratory shallop, near life-size dioramas, and so much more. Step back in time with us for this regional first!
