TEEN BOAT BUILDING SCHOOL
June 21-26, 2010, 9AM-4PM

Teens will learn how to make their own canoe with the help of instructors from the Chesapeake Wooden Boat Builders School. Advance registration and orientation is required. Call for application.

SUMMER CONCERT BY THE BAY SERIES
Monday Nights in July, 7PM

Our concert series is a great break from the work week! Relax to spectacular views of the Bay while listening to some the region’s best maritime performers. Refreshments available. July 5th-Calico Jack; July 12th-Geoff Kaufman;

NEW! ARCHAEOLOGY CAMP BY THE BAY
July 5-9, 2010 (entering grades 4-5) 9AM-4PM

The past comes to life in your own backyard! Discover how archaeology can help us find out what happened in the past. Take part in different activities related to archaeology, like nature hikes and surveys, hands-on crafts and activities, traditional games and Native cultures. Find out how you can help protect the past. For students who have not previously completed the Archaeology by the Bay Summer Camp. Please pack a lunch for camp. In partnership with Harford Community College. Register through the college at www.hardford.edu. Course: 35001; Tuition: $265;  Fee: $50. For more details contact the museum at 410-939-4800.     

NEW! BAY EXPLORERS & ARCHAEOLOGISTS

July 12-16, 2010, 9AM-4PM

(entering grades 6-9, or students who have previously

completed "Archaeology by the Bay.")
Explore the rich cultural and natural resources of the Bay right along your own backyard! Learn about the history and archaeology of the area and the Native plants and animals. Hands-on activities will focus on history, archaeology, and ecology. Open to students who have become Junior Archaeologists at previous camp sessions or to students who have explored similar topics at the middle school level. Please pack a lunch for camp. BEYOND JAMESTOWN: LIFE 400 YEARS AGO
July 24, 25, 2010, during Mari*Fest 2010

Join our e-mail list and receive a personal invitation to the opening of our NEW exhibit, BEYOND JAMESTOWN: LIFE 400 YEARS AGO that portrays the lives of the Native Americans in the Upper Bay Region and contact with European Settlers. Occupying our newly renovated gallery space, it features unique artifacts from the region, a replica of Captain John Smith's exploratory shallop, near life-size dioramas, and so much more. Step back in time with us for this regional first!


MARI*FEST 2010 - MARITIME HERITAGE WATERFRONT FESTIVAL

Enjoy Bay food and beverages, music, dance, living history interpretation, crafters, boat rides, sailing race and children’s activities including a cardboard boat contest. Featured events include a Crab & Bull Feast and the Upper Bay Soup Challenge. Festival Fun-- free for the whole family! Visit our gallery Grand Re-opening: Beyond Jamestown: Life 400 Years Ago. Contact the Museum for tickets to the feast, challenge, and boat raffle.
