Chris James Live Concert

On Saturday evening, August 11, the Maritime Museum hosted a live music concert featuring acclaimed musician Christopher James. His music was filled with passion, energy and hope and steeped in the Blues tradition.

Chris James has been playing guitar and singing since the age of five. He grew up listening to blues, jazz, folk, country, classical and rock & roll. From a musical family, he started honing his craft under the tutelage of his mother, uncle and brother. While still in his teens, he headed down South - the birthplace of the Blues – where he played with various blues groups.

After returning to Maryland, Chris funded his own group, and won first place in the Baltimore Blues Society’s Blues Challenge. He has released five albums, twice won he Maryland State Arts Council’s Individual Artist Award (once for performance, once for composition), and was a finalist in the International Blues Competition in Memphis, TN. Chris’ love of music is expressed in his songwriting, singing, and playing the mandolin, acoustic and electric guitar, harmonica and ukulele.
