Don Shappelle in Concert

On Saturday evening, August 4, the Maritime Museum hosted a live music concert, featuring acclaimed folk musician and activist Don Shappelle. He shared his wealth of original Bay-inspired songs that are so evocative of his mentor, the late Pete Seeger. They're easy to sing along with, and the thoughtful lyrics always pack a punch.

Don originally hails from Wilkes-Barre, PA, but now resides in Perryville, MD. After taking a trip to the Chesapeake Bay many years ago, Don fell in love with the area. Now proud to be living on the banks of the Susquehanna River where it meets the Bay, Don laces his songs with the beauty and magic of life on the water.

Since moving to Maryland, his music has reflected his connection to the Bay and its tributaries. As a staunch supporter of Bay clean-up efforts, he's performed at waterfront gatherings and festivals around the region.
